The Original Pub building dates back to 1684 and the bar is full of the charm and character of this era with beamed walls and ceilings. It’s an ideal place to meet with loved ones or friends. 


At lunch time we offer a menu with steaks, fish dishes, salads and much more.  Specials are available including traditional English dishes that offers excellent value for money. Evening’s we offers a restaurant menu and on Friday nights we offer a  special 3 course menu and coffee for only £12.50.    Sunday lunch is hugely popular with 3 courses for £11.50.

On a hot sunny day why not enjoy an alfresco style dining on the pubs large terrace, or its large lawned area. We serve a range of snacks or full meals in the garden in the summer season and with a childrens play area to entertain the kids its a great lunch time out

Why not take you and your family to fowlmead country park, situated in sholden just off the A258 and after a morning of walking or cycling and enjoying the fantastic views this country park has to offer, visit the sportsman.
For Lunch with meals from £6.25 and light snacks from £3.00 it's excellent value for money. We also offer a family, walkers and cyclist freindly policy. Please be aware that whilst dogs are allowed in our gardens we do not allow them in to any of the buildings and they must be kept on leads at all times and cleaned up behind.
